Oral Surgeon Henry H. Rowshan, DDS

 Henry H. Rowshan, DDSDr. Henry H. Rowshan graduated from Indiana University Purdue University School of Dentistry (IUPUI) in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a senior Dental Student he was recognized as the dental student of the year by the International College of Dentists. Following his graduation he was commissioned as a Captain in The United States Army Dental Corps. Dr. Rowshan then completed a 1-year Advanced Education in General Dental Practice in the Army Medical Department at Fort Jackson South Carolina. He served as the president of his Advanced Education Class for that period. Dr. Rowshan was then assigned to Republic of South Korea to serve as the Officer in Charge of two large dental clinics, providing general dental care to Soldiers and Airmen in the Korean Peninsula.

Following his return from his overseas tour, he completed his advanced four years training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Eisenhower Army Medical Center and the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. His passion for the art and science of oral and maxillofacial surgery inspired him to conduct a number of research projects while he was a resident. Dr. Henry Rowshan has authored and published over ten articles and a textbook in surgical, anesthesia, and general dentistry journals.

Upon his graduation from his surgical residency he was among one of the first junior officers elected to become an associate professor at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program in Honolulu. Dr. Rowshan spent the next three years teaching four Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents and eight Advanced Education in General Dentistry residents the art and science of oral surgery. He presented several lectures and table clinics in the Pacific Asian Dental meetings and was recognized by many awards for educational contributions.

Dr. Rowshan volunteered for a tour of duty from 2009-2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was the only Oral surgeon in western Iraq, taking care of all facial trauma and provided secondary assisting to all other surgical specialties to include general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and anesthesia care. Before his honorable discharge from the United States Army as a Major, with 11 years of service, he served as the Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at The US Army National Training Center in California. Dr. Rowshan has also served as a clinical faculty at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in Southern California.

Dr. Rowshan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He was chosen by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons to be a judge for the scientific presentation session in the 2009 annual meeting.

Dr. Rowshan practices and enjoys all aspects of this unique specialty of dentistry. His primary interests are in dental-alveolar surgery, extraction of simple and complicated teeth under comfortable anesthesia. He has extensive experience in reconstruction of jaws in preparation of implant placement. He has placed close to a 1000 implants in reconstruction of mouths, faces and dentition of troops injured in battlefields or loss of dentition due to disease.
